Christmas is the time of year for giving! This years toy drive proved that CO4x4club has what it takes to make Christmas special for the young girls and boys that aren’t as privileged as we are!
The year end party brought in quite a few toys, some non-perishable food items and cash donations of over $300! Before going shopping information was gathered from several shelters to see if any gifts were preferred – no luck at all! So it was decided to go to a local fire hall, who put me in contact with Rick Berenz who is president of Toronto fire fighters toy drive!
Now all we had to do was go shopping…let me just say I hate shopping! Either way, did go… and actually enjoyed it! Shopping for gifts when you know someone will benefit is a very enjoyable thing to do! We dug in to the aisles at Walmart and it didn’t take long to fill the shopping cart!
On Saturday Dec 6th we drove to the fire hall at Sheppard Ave E and McCowan Rd. and met up with Rick. They helped us unload the Jeep and load the toys into the ‘Toy Sleigh’ Van! We chatted with Rick for 30 minutes about the toy drive and what areas are lacking in donations. We got great feedback for future needs and had a great time talking to Rick. He is truly dedicated to making Christmas better for under privileged kids and appreciated the generosity shown by the Central Ontario 4×4 club!
I would like to thank everyone who made a donation to this years toy drive, I look forward to next years toy drive and hope to exceed this years contributions!
