Swampswimmer is now in its 30th year as one of Central Ontario 4X4 Club’s premier rallies as it deals with time, distance and speed. It is not a Baja speed race but does involve skill with on and off road driving as well as calculating time and speed. This rally is for Drive and Navigator only (No passengers or pets). Entry fee is $60.00 which includes Sunday morning breakfast for Driver & Navigator. Extra breakfast tickets will be available.

For those who have never heard of a time/distance rally, it goes like this. You are given a route book one minute before your designated start time. In that route book will be directions consisting of speed, distance and a "tulip" diagram, which is basically a view from above of the upcoming intersection with an arrow to tell you which way to go. Hidden throughout the route are checkpoints. Checkpoints can come up at any time so it is imperative to maintain the proper speed at all times. Penalty time is accumulated equally if you are early or if you are late arriving at a checkpoint. Once you reach a checkpoint and your arrival time is taken, your penalty time cannot be made up. If you are five minutes early for one checkpoint and five minutes late for the next, you have acquired ten minutes of penalty time. The winner is the competitor who has the least amount of penalty time accumulated. The event is typically held over a two day period with registration, tech and the actual rally taking place on the Saturday and the Awards Breakfast on the Sunday. This year, as with the last few, we are offering registration and tech on the Friday night for those that arrive early. If you are a local participant, or if you wish you can arrive Friday to lessen the confusion on Saturday morning. We are limiting the rally to 40 entries so get your registration form with payment to the address on the registration form and reserve your spot.
